Winter Solace
As the light fades, dim shadows lengthen, and the velvet darkness looms over the woods and lands. Winter arrived forcefully in the Northern Hemisphere. The ever-revolving dance of light and darkness, the balance of contrast inherent in nature, entices me. The cycle of seasons serves as a reminder to honor and respect the changes, to notice the needs as they unfold, and to let go of what no longer serves you.
A gentle reminder that In a world that praises speed you can follow your own rhythm, in a world of noise you can cultivate and relish in silence. When you feel depleted, your body craves rest, even while your mind is still racing. I pause and try not to fight these natural currents. Our bodies are still a part of the natural world, while our thinking patterns, acquired through upbringing, are a reflection of our culture. Allow yourself to take a deep breath, turn your focus inwards, drawing the outside world into a hazy and silent state. Embrace the reconnection to your body.
It gives clear signals if you're willing to listen. Trust in your fatigue. Listen to it; it’s here to guide your rest, not to challenge your ability.
Every now and then, I pause with meaningful intentions — to reflect, to let go of all that is misaligned with where and how I want to show up in my life. I dive deep into my solitude, reconnecting with what brings me closer to my own self. I practice presence and turn my focus towards my own stream of feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. I return to the breath, to the heart, and feel grounded. I find beauty in the ability to feel and acknowledge emotions. Relish in refined simplicity, both in outer form and in the inner dialogue. Words are the foundation of our inner lives, both what you speak and how you speak to yourself carry force. Notice how your thoughts impose limits on you.
